On Monday, 18 January, my home State of Alabama, along with several other Southern States, will officially celebrate General Robert E. Lee’s birthday by closing all State offices. We in The League of the South will take the occasion to honor both Lee and General Thomas Jonathan “Stonewall” Jackson, whose birthday falls on the 21st.
Though the South has a 400-year history and many other heroes, we start out the year by celebrating the lives and legacies of these two Confederate generals, both honorable men and Christians. Indeed, they are the sort of men that a sane and healthy society would naturally celebrate, and so we do in the traditional South.
Please take a moment and thank God for the lives of these two men and pray that their like will be seen again in Dixie!
